Letterboxing Memories - Fun on the Forum

From: (sileagle@windstream.net) | Date: 2013-11-24 10:17:43 UTC-08:00

Recently, someone on the TX Yahoo Group wanted to hear about "the good old days" of letterboxing, so I began writing some of my memories, mostly of letterboxing in Texas.  However, I did write one about the fun times we used to have on this Group and I thought I would share it with y'all.  Even though I remembered most of the stories, I took the time to look up pertinent posts and added hyperlinks so you can read them yourself.  I highly recommend going back to the dates of these posts and reading all of the replies since many were just as funny.  I created a folder in the Files section called Letterboxing Memories and uploaded my Fun on the Forum story:

http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/letterbox-usa/files/Letterboxing%20Memories

Feel free to add any of your memories to the folder or just post them here.  I'm not sure anyone is still out there so this might be falling on deaf ears, but I would love to hear from others, especially the ones mentioned in my memories.

I still subscribe to this group and look forward to taking time to read what you've posted after work today.  Sounds like these stories will be entertaining to someone who didn't start letterboxing until 2004 (me), and probably even more so to people who have just begun.

Good memories, but for the REALLY good stuff, dig back a bit further...

I always remember the discussion about finding & planting. How some wanted to avoid being just an F'n whore by increasing their P-ness. Some funny stuff!

I had to wonder if inspector Bacon was funhog in on this particular DMS joke.

I agree, it was a natural progression from Hog to Bacon.

Since you obviously know about some good stuff further back, why not share like I did?

Haha, great Thanksgiving treat, thanks for posting it!

Some of those so-called "flame wars" were really clues in disguise as well...here's a lame example of our own attempt at that (this box is still alive and well, btw):

Just like good clues its all there for anyone who wants to put the time in to find it. The hint for them is that it's a game older than the past few years (or decade)....
